| NewsLetter 2nd Quarter 2010
May 12, 2010 The second quarter MHOA meeting was held Tuesday, May 11, with a very disappointing number of homeowners in attendance. Randy Brennan of Signature Scapes was our guest (his company bought Monroe Landscapes and Maintenance). He brings 15 years of experience and a fresh perspective to our needs and offered several appealing suggestions for updating our entrance image and adding color to the common areas. We look forward to working with Randy and appreciate his coming to speak to us. If you are interested in hiring a company for your own home’s landscape needs, we recommend you call Randy at 770-466-6671 for a consultation. Look for changes to our entrance in the near future. Randy is preparing an estimate for cleaning the tennis courts and refurbishing the gravel areas off the parking lot. We hope to be able to get the tennis courts back in playing condition sometime this summer, but we have a lot of work to do to make the flooded area presentable again. Having said that, a Neighborhood Workday is scheduled for Saturday, June 5, 8:00am until noon. No skills required, just a willingness to join your neighbors in sprucing up the Moorings common areas. We need your bodies as well as your clippers, rakes and flat front shovels. If you have questions, please call Roy Clanton at 770-972-8206. Plan on meeting Roy at the Tennis Court pavilion Saturday morning, and bring work gloves and any yard tools (clippers, rakes, etc.) that you like to use. Saturday, June 19, has been chosen as the date for a Neighborhood Garage Sale. A big sign will be posted at the subdivision entrance well in advance to let passersby know about the event. If your spring cleaning has left you with a lot of stuff you don’t want anymore, this is your chance. to get rid of it. Each participant will hold his/her own sale at their home and keep their profits. The more homes participating, the better. Bill Smith has agreed to maintain our website at www.mooringsnews.com Please take a look at the updates and let him know of news items you’d like to have posted. Email him at wasmith@mindspring.com. You can pay your 2010 maintenance fees through PayPal by going to the website and clicking on the PayPal link at the top of the page. Please note that May 31 is the deadline to get your payments in to be a “neighbor in good standing.” If you need to make special arrangements to spread out the payment of your fees, please do not hesitate to call MHOA Treasurer, Jeannie Mangham at 770-979-4729 for assistance. May 31 is also the deadline to contact Judeth Raser at 770-979-0370 if you have any additions, deletions or changes to the information you want published in the 2010 Neighborhood Directory. An asterisk (*) will be placed beside your name in the directory if you have paid your maintenance assessment by this date. We would like to see an asterisk (*) beside every homeowner’s name. FYI: In 2009 not one homeowner on Old Annistown Bridge Rd paid the assessment and only one on Queensferry Place paid the entire fee. One other on Queensferry Place paid half the fee. Thus far this year one person on those two streets has paid the assessment. These two streets are not connected to Moorings Parkway, but the entrance to those homes is maintained by the landscape company and we pay for electricity and maintain 6 lights. Please think twice before you decide not to support the neighborhood. It supports you.
