Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends. Many homes are already decorated for the upcoming Christmas season and there is definitely a chill in the air. It’s a beautiful time of year in The Moorings! We hope you’ve noticed the ancient junipers along the walls at the entrance have been removed and the new plantings have been installed. Mother Nature must be happy because she has given us some much needed rain to help them become established. Feedback and comments about the new look are welcomed.
Our annual luminary event will be held on Saturday, Dec.18, with the rain date the next day on Sunday, Dec.19. At the summer HoA meeting we decided to concentrate on the entrance rather than the entire neighborhood as we have in the past. The smaller area will have less impact on our budget and will require fewer people to accomplish the job. It seemed the more responsible approach considering the current economic situation. We’ll meet at Marlyn Carson’s house on Queensferry @ 1:00PM. If you can’t come help that Saturday and you’d be willing to pre-fold bags, please call Marlyn at 770-979-8148 and she’ll bring the bags to you.
Camille Peterkin has volunteered to serve as our Committee liaison. A few ideas were suggested for groups we might want to form which do not require a Chairman or any set number of participants. One is a book club which could meet once a month and the other is a garden club which could work on HoA projects or even individual homes. Another idea was a game night which could include either families or adults. If you have any other suggestions or want to participate, call Camille @ 516-445-8967.
It is that time of year to choose new officers for the Homeowner’s Association. If you’d be willing to take on a little extra responsibility, please call Kerney Hall (770-972-0084).
He’ll be happy to explain the job description of each office.
We have a couple of ongoing problems. First, people are ignoring the stop signs at Riverfront Drive and Moorings Pkwy and at Ravenwolfe Way and Moorings Pkwy. These stops are there for a reason and may keep one of our children from being badly hurt. The other issue is trash on our streets. Please think before you toss your drink cans and fast food bags out your car window. You wouldn’t do that in your home so why in your neighborhood? |
